Bitcoin mining is the process of adding transaction records to Bitcoin’s public ledger of past transactions or blockchain. The concept was introduced in a 2008 paper by Satoshi Nakamoto, who called it a peer-to-peer electronic cash system. It is the first decentralized digital currency, as the system works without a central bank or single administrator.
